Homewares,made slowly.
Three generations of one family, one workshop in the Peak District, and a maker network of 180 independent studios across Britain and Europe. This is how Pember & Pine became the home you grow into.

Started with one workbench. Still answer every email in person.
In 1974 Edward Pember rented a stone outbuilding in Hathersage for £8 a month and started making oak farmhouse tables for the inns along the A625. The first piece sold for £42 and is still in service at The Plough in Hope.
Fifty years later, the workshop is still there, and Edward's daughter Rosa still signs off every new collection. What's changed is the network — we now work with 180 independent makers across Britain, Portugal, Denmark and Japan, every one named on the product page.
What hasn't changed is the promise: real materials, real makers, and a guarantee that the things you bring home are the things you grow into.
Five decades, one ledger.
- 1974A workshop in Hathersage
Cabinetmaker Edward Pember sets up a small joinery in the Peak District, supplying solid oak tables to local farmhouses and inns.
- 1989First Pine showroom
Edward's daughter Rosa joins the business and opens a showroom on Sheffield's Division Street — ceramics, linens and lighting alongside the furniture.
- 2004Beyond the Peaks
Pember & Pine begins shipping nationwide. The first own-design pendant lamp wins a Country Living award.
- 2018A maker's collective
We commit to working with British and European independent makers — no anonymous factory lines, every piece traceable to its workshop.
- 2024Twelve homes
Our twelfth showroom opens in Bath. Online, the collection now reaches every UK postcode with free delivery over £75.
Four things we won't compromise on.
From how we choose materials to how we price a piece, every decision gets measured against these. If a shortcut breaks one, it doesn't happen.
Every piece is sourced from a named workshop — over 180 independent British and European makers, listed on the product page.
Solid oak, ash and elm. Linen, jute, wool. Stoneware and porcelain. We avoid plastics, veneers and short-life finishes wherever possible.
No fake sales, no inflated RRPs. The price you see is the price we'd pay our makers for years to come.
Spare parts kept for a decade, free repair guides on every product page, and a buy-back scheme for unwanted furniture.
"A home isn't decorated, it's gathered. Our job is to make sure every piece you gather is worth keeping."
The people behind the pieces.
Second generation. Took the workshop national in '89 and still signs off every new collection from the Hathersage studio.
Trained at the RCA. Joined in 2009 to lead our own-design range — lighting, ceramics and the seasonal collections.
Spends six months a year on the road. Has personally visited every workshop in the maker network.
Came from a circular-economy consultancy. Building our roadmap to a fully take-back, repairable catalogue by 2030.
Built to outlive a trend.
Homewares are one of the most replaced categories in any house — and one of the worst for landfill. We can only solve our small corner of that: by making pieces you keep, sourcing what nature can replace, and taking it all back when you're done.
Read our 2024 impact reportWhat our customers tell us.
I bought an oak dining table from Pember & Pine eleven years ago. It's been through two house moves and three children — and looks better now than the day it arrived.
The first homewares brand I've found where I actually know who made the thing. They sent me a card with the potter's name when my bowls arrived.
Our café is fitted out almost entirely in Pember & Pine. Twelve years on, the benches have softened beautifully and they still source spare cushions.
